  6. 99% … seriously?

    Don’t get me wrong, this has nothing to do with subordinate mentality or stuff like that. But seriously, seeing banners stating “We are the 99%” at OWS-activities over here in Germany just makes me fucking laugh and losing a lot of respect …

    People, start using your head and stop just copying everything and everyone. You definitely fight for a good and just cause (at least some of you …) and I respect that and am glad it’s been done. But seriously? 99%? Germany is (thank god in this case) not the United States. 

    We are not the 99% of the population suffering from unemployment, social injustice and so on. Our unemployment rate is comparatively low, the Euro is fairly strong and our social security system is top-class.

    I’m not saying we don’t have any of those problems in Germany, in fact I’m pretty sure they’re even bigger than we want to believe, but it’s just not comparable to the extreme issues the original “99%-ows-folks” stand up to.

    So use your head, be creative and start developing your own slogans matching the actual situation you’re protesting against. Everything else might just make you appear as lame copycats.
